George Samuel Clason (1874โ1957) was an American author and businessman, best known for his classic book on financial wisdom, The Richest Man in Babylon.
Born in Louisiana, Missouri, Clason served in the United States Army during the Spanish-American War before embarking on a successful entrepreneurial career. He founded the Clason Map Company in Denver, Colorado, which published the first road atlas of the United States and Canada.
In 1926, Clason began writing a series of pamphlets about thrift and financial success, using parables set in ancient Babylon. These pamphlets were widely distributed by banks and insurance companies and were later collected into the book that would make him famous.
The Richest Man in Babylon has since become a modern classic, inspiring millions of readers with its simple yet profound lessons on wealth and prosperity. Clasonโs timeless wisdom continues to resonate with audiences today, making him a pivotal figure in the world of personal finance literature.
